Contract-to-Hire (CTH): Both a very flexible model and one built to last, this version of contracting allows the candidate and client to have an “engagement” period before the marriage of FTE work status.   It can be very productive to clients as it allows them to make sure they are getting projects completed and moving forward while also making sure that a solid hire is achieved.  Candidates benefit in that they may also have reservations and would like a longer evaluation period.  Nobody wants to get stuck in a bad relationship!  Sometimes, CTH is the way to avoid letting that happen.  Even if a FTE hire doesn’t work out – with consistent, open dialogue the contractor may stay on longer just to complete a project and even be asked back at later dates.
